Orange goes Green by way of Silver
As a Dutch saying goes: Wanna improve the world? Start with yourself! (Verbeter de wereld, begin bij jezelf.) So I am happy to note – not without a bit of patriotic pride – that “my own” embassy has gone green. The embassy of the Netherlands in DC has obtained a LEED Silver certification. And more than that. It hosted about 50 other embassies recently to sign the “District of Columbia Diplomatic Missions and International Institutions Environmental Performance, Climate, and Sustainability Pledge”. Great to see them LEEDing the way, and it explains the big smiles of the Mayor of DC and the Ambassador of the Netherlands.
